Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Recreation Assistant to join our team. This role is essential in enhancing the quality of life for residents in our care facilities, including nursing homes and assisted living environments. The Recreation Assistant will engage residents in meaningful activities, promote social interaction, and support their overall well-being. Ideal candidates will have experience in senior care, dementia care, or hospice care and possess strong skills in case management and data collection.
Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and implement recreational programs and activities tailored to the interests and needs of residents.
- Facilitate individual and group activities that promote physical, emotional, and social well-being.
- Assist with case management by documenting resident participation and progress in recreational programs.
- Collaborate with nursing staff to ensure activities align with residents' medical needs and preferences.
- Provide support for residents with dementia or other cognitive impairments, ensuring a safe and engaging environment.
- Collect data on resident engagement and satisfaction to improve program effectiveness.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized activity space.
- Foster positive relationships with residents, families, and staff to encourage participation in recreational activities.
Qualifications
- Experience working in senior care settings such as nursing homes or assisted living facilities is preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology related to senior health care is beneficial.
- Familiarity with case management practices and data collection methods is an asset.
- Experience working with children or in educational settings is a plus.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with residents of varying cognitive abilities.
- Compassionate demeanor with a genuine interest in enhancing the lives of seniors through recreation.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
