Our respite services provide structured, meaningful care for complex needs youth ages 5–17, offering families relief while creating empowering leisure experiences for participants.
About the Role
We are seeking a Life Enrichment Specialist (LES) to support respite services for complex needs youth, including those with developmental disabilities, communication barriers, sensory processing differences, and high behavioural support needs. This role requires strong independence, quick thinking, emotional regulation, and a deep commitment to person-centered care.
Key Responsibilities
- Facilitate safe, therapeutic, and engaging respite sessions for youth with complex needs
- Implement support strategies that align with individual care plans and JJRT’s values
- Use proactive, trauma-informed approaches to de-escalate behaviors and support regulation
- Maintain strong professional boundaries and clear communication with caregivers and the JJRT team
- Complete brief written documentation after each session
- Prepare and transport necessary materials to program sites
- Maintain a calm and supportive presence in high-sensory or emotionally charged situations
Required Qualifications
- Diploma or Degree in one of the following or related fields:
- DSW, CYC, RecTA, Therapeutic Recreation (CTRS), RECE, BSW, etc.
- Minimum 2 years of direct experience supporting youth (ages 5–17) with developmental disabilities, autism, behavioural complexities, or high support needs
- CPI or BMS certification (current)
- CPR/First Aid certification (Level C or equivalent, current)
- Valid G Class driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle
- Clear and current Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC)
