Property Supervisor

About the job
As a Property Supervisor, you'll play a key role in managing public land and property to support transportation projects that benefit communities across Ontario. Your responsibilities will also include:- Plan and manage real estate services, such as buying, selling, leasing, and managing properties, including getting property appraisals and negotiating deals.
- Decide on the best way to hire consultants or contractors and recommend how to handle purchasing and procurement.
- Offer expert advice and support to senior leaders, outside organizations, and service providers.
What you bring to the team
Real Estate Knowledge & Skills
You have:- A solid understanding of real estate laws, regulations, and industry practices.
- Experience with leasing, selling, and managing properties, including negotiating deals and handling repairs.
- Knowledge of market trends, environmental issues, and public-sector real estate rules.
- Skills using software like spreadsheets, word processors, and presentation tools to share information.
Supervisory, Project Management and Contract Management Skills
You have:- Strong project management skills to handle multiple real estate projects at once.
- Experience leading teams—assigning tasks, setting priorities, and supporting staff development.
- Ability to oversee real estate work like appraisals, purchases, sales, and leases.
- Experience managing contracts, including hiring and working with consultants and contractors.
Communication, Interpersonal and Negotiation Skills
You have:- Strong advisory skills to give expert recommendations on complex real estate matters.
- Presentation and advocacy skills to represent the ministry in hearings and meetings.
- Clear communication skills for writing reports and negotiating with property owners or legal teams.
- Tact and negotiation skills to handle sensitive topics like expropriation and settlements.
Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills
You can:- Review and recommend real estate deals, considering costs and impacts.
- Oversee daily operations to ensure services meet client needs and stay on track.
- Help solve complex issues as they come up.
- Set priorities for staff and consultants.
