Position Summary:
The Project Manager will oversee and coordinate service delivery improvements in student records, registration, grading, and exam scheduling, particularly in the context of ongoing system modernization initiatives. Working in collaboration with Enrolment Services leadership, academic units, and IT Services, the incumbent ensures that core student academic services are delivered efficiently and in line with institutional priorities.
This position provides leadership in the planning, implementation, and continuous enhancement of academic recordkeeping processes. It plays a critical role in operational continuity, staff supervision, policy implementation, and regulatory compliance. The Project Manager is also expected to support or lead system-related projects such as the Banner 9 upgrade for student records modules.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Analyze and improve operational workflows related to student records and implement changes in line with best practices.
- Participate in or lead projects related to the implementation or improvement of student systems (e.g., Banner 9); coordinate timelines, requirements, and stakeholder engagement.
- Oversee the delivery of core student academic services, including registration, exam scheduling, grading, transcript production, and academic record updates.
- Ensure all records-related processes comply with institutional regulations and government reporting standards in the student information system.
- Liaise with faculties, departments, and administrative units to resolve complex academic record issues, modification to processes or procedures, and ensure service alignment.
- Prepare reports, summaries, and compliance documentation for internal and external bodies (e.g., MEQ).
- Contribute to policy development and implementation as it relates to academic records and registration services.
- Collaborate with IT Services to support testing, documentation, and rollout of system changes.
- Represent the unit on committees and working groups related to academic systems, student records, or exam delivery.
Other Qualifying Skills and Abilities:
Experience managing academic records, registration cycles, exams, and grading processes in a university setting. Strong understanding of student information systems (preferably Banner or similar). Demonstrated ability to supervise staff and deliver high-quality student services. Knowledge of project coordination practices; experience with system implementation is an asset. Ability to analyze operational issues and develop sustainable solutions. Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills. Knowledge of French and English: McGill University is an English-language university where day-to-day duties require English communication both verbally and in writing. The level of English required for this position has been assessed at Level 3 (on a scale of 0 to 4).
