We're looking for a mission-driven Program Coordinator, Children & Youth who is passionate about creating more accessible, inclusive, and equitable communities across Canada where people with low vision have unlimited opportunities and can experience life free from barriers and discrimination.

Your Impact at CNIB

  • Empower children and youth who are blind or partially sighted by providing tools and fostering opportunities to promote personal growth, confidence, self-motivation, and self-advocacy.
  • Guide and support students who are blind or partially sighted and their families from preschool until age 29 years, ensuring children and youth have access to the equitable educational and experiential learning opportunities as their sighted peers.
  • Develop toolkits to support community organizations to meet the accessibility needs of blind participants.
  • Engage in outreach to community organizations to offer accessibility supports.
  • Support the coordination of signature events.
  • Conduct initial onboarding and registration of new individuals and their families to determine appropriate internal services.
  • Develop and implement appropriate group programming for children, youth, parents/caregivers, and additional supports on the participant's service journey. On community outings, provide guidance and supervision to maintain participant safety and maximize the participant experience
  • Maintain up-to-date participant file reports; complete all service tracking in a timely manner. Complete follow-up reporting and all necessary data entry to ensure consistent participant support and interaction
  • Remain current on agency policies and community resources and provide information as applicable.
  • Work in partnership with philanthropy to support the application process and deliver on grants & community funding as required.
  • Ensure program outcomes are met and support with reporting of same to program funders.


Requirements

Who you are:

Education and Certifications

  • Bachelor or Diploma in Social Work, Education, Psychology, Child Development or equivalent.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certificates are considered an asset.
  • Mental Health First Aid Basic an asset.


Experience and Qualifications

  • 1-2 years’ experience working with children with sight loss and/or children with complex needs and their families would be an asset.
  • Knowledge of education and disability rights issues.
  • Awareness of specific issues regarding vision loss is considered an asset.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office 365.
  • Experience with data management software is considered an asset.
  • Experience and knowledge of program development for children and youth.
  • Personal or professional experience relating to blindness and sight loss is considered an asset.
  • Personal or professional experience working with assistive technology and/or accessible environments is considered an asset.

Work Environment

  • Monday to Friday office hours with flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required.
