Job Summary:
We are looking for a highly organized and proactive Procurement Officer / Buyer to manage purchasing activities across local and international markets. This role requires strong sourcing, negotiation, and supplier management skills — particularly with Chinese-speaking suppliers. The ideal candidate will be fluent in both English and Chinese (Mandarin) and experienced in navigating procurement processes across different regions and time zones.
Key Responsibilities:
- Source and evaluate reliable local and offshore suppliers, with a focus on Asia-based sourcing (particularly China).
- Negotiate pricing, contracts, and terms with both domestic and international vendors to ensure cost-effective procurement.
- Communicate in Chinese with offshore suppliers to ensure accurate understanding of specifications, timelines, and quality expectations.
- Place and track purchase orders, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of goods and materials.
- Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with internal teams to maintain optimal stock levels.
- Resolve supply issues, shipment delays, or quality discrepancies with vendors in a timely and professional manner.
- Maintain updated procurement records, including quotes, purchase orders, and supplier communications.
- Conduct supplier performance reviews and maintain long-term strategic relationships.
- Stay informed on market trends, pricing dynamics, and risks in global supply chains.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, International Business, or related field.
- 2+ years of relevant experience in procurement, buying, or supply chain operations.
- Fluent in Chinese (Mandarin) and English — both spoken and written.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills across cultures and time zones.
- Experience dealing with Chinese manufacturers, trading companies, or freight forwarders is preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and purchasing software or ERP systems.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to multitask under pressure.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in importing, international logistics, or customs clearance procedures.
- Familiarity with Incoterms, international payment methods (e.g., TT, LC), and product compliance regulations.
- Certification in procurement/supply chain (e.g., CIPS, CPSM) is an asset.
