We are seeking a talented, hard-working, and dedicated Line Cook to join our team at Mr Greek, an authentic Greek restaurant known for its flavourful dishes and warm hospitality. As a Line Cook, you will be responsible for preparing high-quality dishes according to the restaurant’s menu, ensuring consistency, and maintaining a clean and efficient kitchen. You’ll work closely with other kitchen staff to ensure that all dishes are cooked and plated to perfection, while adhering to food safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and cook food items in accordance with the restaurant's menu and recipe standards.
- Ensure all dishes are prepared, cooked, and plated to perfection, paying attention to the unique flavors and presentation of Mr. Greek cuisine (e.g., souvlaki, moussaka, tzatziki).
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and food prep areas, following health and safety guidelines.
- Monitor food stock levels, assist with inventory, and notify management of shortages.
- Assist with food prep, such as chopping vegetables, marinating meats, and preparing sauces.
- Work collaboratively with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth service.
- Ensure proper use of kitchen equipment and report any malfunctions or safety concerns to management.
- Follow proper portion control and presentation guidelines to ensure the quality of each dish.
- Keep workstations clean and sanitized, and maintain high hygiene standards at all times.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a line cook, prep cook, or in a similar kitchen role is preferred.
- Knowledge of Greek cuisine and traditional cooking methods is a plus.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to follow instructions and work collaboratively with others.
- Excellent time management and multitasking skills.
- Ability to maintain cleanliness and organization in a busy kitchen environment.
- Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Assist with opening and closing duties, including cleaning, stocking, and organizing the kitchen at the end of the shift.
- Food Handler’s Certificate (or willingness to obtain one).
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent
Pay: From $17.20 per hour
Expected hours: 25 – 40 per week
