Overview
We are seeking a motivated and dedicated Pipe Fitting or Plumbing Apprentice to join our team. This position is ideal for individuals looking to develop their skills and career in the plumbing and pipe fitting industry with 1-4 years in experience and schooling. Projects range from boiler systems and commercial plumbing installations to large critical infrastructure projects like lift stations, treatment plants and civil pipelines. As an apprentice, you will receive hands-on training and mentorship from experienced professionals while gaining valuable knowledge in various aspects of pipe fitting, including installation, maintenance, and repair.
Duties
- Assist in the installation and repair of piping systems under the guidance of skilled pipe fitters, plumbers, pipelayers, welders and supervisors.
- Construct and work on projects anywhere on Vancouver Island and surrounding areas
- Utilize hand tools and power tools effectively to complete tasks safely.
- Participate in rigging operations to safely lift and position materials and equipment.
- Perform confined space duties like entry, monitoring and rescue
- Learn to read blueprints and technical drawings to understand project specifications.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area and equipment to ensure safety and efficiency on the job site.
- Collaborate with team members to complete projects on time while adhering to safety protocols.
Qualifications
- Basic mechanical knowledge is essential; familiarity with basic plumbing systems is a plus.
- Experience with hand tools, power tools, and heavy equipment operation is preferred.
- Knowledge of piping, infrastructure and rigging practices will be advantageous.
- Confined space training or past experience in rigging, climbing, first aid and rescue is an asset but not mandatory
- Ability to work in various weather conditions and perform physical tasks such as working with heavy materials, bolting up pipe in tight conditions and constructing projects in unique areas.
- Strong communication skills and a willingness to learn from experienced professionals in the field.
- A valid driver's license is required for transportation to job sites.
