Pickup/Delivery Driver – Habitat for Humanity ReStore

Job Summary:
Habitat for Humanity is seeking a motivated and customer-service-oriented Pickup/Delivery Driver to support our mission of building homes, communities, and hope. This role is essential to the daily operations of the Habitat ReStore, responsible for the safe and timely pickup of donated items and delivery of materials when needed. The ideal candidate will represent Habitat for Humanity professionally while interacting with donors and customers, ensuring excellent service and safe handling of goods.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drive Habitat for Humanity vehicles to pick up donated furniture, appliances, building materials, and household goods from homes and businesses.
- Safely load and unload donations, ensuring proper handling and securing of items during transport.
- Provide friendly and respectful donor interaction, including issuing donation receipts and explaining donation policies as needed.
- Assist with the organization and unloading of items at the ReStore donation center.
- Perform daily vehicle inspections and report maintenance issues to the supervisor.
- Maintain accurate records of pickups and deliveries.
- Follow established donation acceptance guidelines and politely decline items not meeting criteria.
- Ensure adherence to all traffic laws and organizational safety procedures.
- Assist in warehouse or store operations when not driving (optional, depending on staffing).
Qualifications:
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record (required).
- Ability to lift and move heavy items (up to 50 lbs) with proper technique or equipment.
- Previous experience driving a box truck or similar vehicle preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently.
- Positive attitude and commitment to Habitat for Humanity’s mission.
- Must be able to pass a background check.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with local area and route navigation.
- Experience in customer service or donation-based retail preferred.
- Basic understanding of furniture handling and safety practices.
Work Environment:
- Primarily field-based, with regular lifting and physical activity.
- May be exposed to varying weather conditions.
- Occasional weekend as needed.
Job Types: Part-time, Permanent
Pay: $18.00-$19.00 per hour
Expected hours: 16 – 32 per week
