Job Purpose
To work alongside the Housing Program Manager to develop and update engaging workshop content for future homeowners.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and update engaging workshop content on topics such as:
o Financial literacy and budgeting
o Home maintenance and repairs
o Energy efficiency and sustainability
o Community engagement and neighborhood resource
o Condo Homeownership
- Write and edit workshop materials, promotional content, and participant handouts using strong creative writing and editing skills.
- Utilize video editing tools to create or enhance multimedia content for workshops and online learning modules.
- Collaborate with staff, volunteers, and subject matter experts to ensure content accuracy and relevance.
- Manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively, demonstrating strong time management and organizational skills.
- Work independently on assigned projects while maintaining regular communication with the team.
- Support other housing program and community engagement initiatives as needed.
- Contribute to a collaborative team environment by sharing ideas and supporting colleagues.
- Be an ambassador for Habitat for Humanity
- Other duties as required
Qualifications
- Proven skills in creative writing and editing
- Good computer skills, including video editing,
- Team player who is reliable and energetic
- Multi-tasker with great time management skills
- Able to work independently
- An acceptable criminal record check (if over 18 years of age)
- Currently enrolled in a post-secondary program.
Working Conditions
- Ability to work flexible hours (some weekends and evening hours may be required).
- Ability to deal with the pressures of a demanding and fast-paced work environment.
Physical Requirements
In accordance with the Ontario Disabilities Act: This position requires the physical ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods of time.
Eligibility Requirements
This position is funded by the Government of Canada through the Canada Summer Jobs program and thus the candidates must meet the following eligibility criteria:
- Be between 15-30 years of age
- Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act 31 and,
- Be legally entitled to work in Canada
Job Type: Fixed term contract
Contract length: 8 weeks
Pay: $18.00 per hour
Expected hours: 35 per week

- Monday to Friday
- Weekends as needed
