What you will do:
Health & Safety Support (Primary Focus)
- Assist with administering and tracking mandatory safety training (e.g., WHMIS, forklift certification, first aid, ESA).
- Assist in maintaining safety records, including incident reports, training records, and audit documentation.
- Support accident/incident investigations by gathering witness statements, preparing reports, and tracking corrective actions.
- Administer Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC) program, including recording minutes, coordinate inspections,
- Contribute to the delivery of safety communication campaigns (e.g., Safety talks, bulletin boards).
Human Resources Administration
- Support onboarding for new hires, ensuring completion of safety orientations and workplace tours.
- Assist in coordinating employee engagement activities and events.
- Support HR documentation and filing, including employee records, training certificates, and policy acknowledgments.
- Maintained uniform inventory system and liaised with suppliers to streamline deliveries and replacements.
- Coordinated vendor deliveries and implemented systems for inventory control to reduce waste and optimize costs.
- Managed logistics, communications, and vendor coordination for staff events, ensuring high participation and smooth execution.
What you will need:
- Enrolled in a Human Resources, Occupational Health & Safety, Business Administration, or related co-op program.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Confident communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to manage confidential information responsibly.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); experience with HRIS systems an asset.
- Willingness to spend time on the production floor as needed to support safety initiatives.
- Knowledge of Ontario's Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) considered an asset.
