We are currently seeking a highly skilled and creative Pastry Chef to join our culinary team and craft refined, modern desserts that align with Oro’s upscale brand and culinary standards.
Position: Pastry Chef
Location: 501 College St, Toronto, ON
Type: Part-Time or Full-Time (Flexible for the right candidate)
Compensation: Competitive, commensurate with experience
Responsibilities:
- Design and execute a rotating selection of elegant, innovative plated desserts that reflect seasonal ingredients and global influences.
- Create signature desserts with a focus on flavour balance, visual artistry, and refined techniques (e.g. tempering, sugar work, chocolate, pâte à choux, entremets, and modernist pastry).
- Collaborate with Executive Chef and GM to align dessert offerings with tasting menus, à la carte service, and special events.
- Oversee pastry production, plating, and quality control during service.
- Manage inventory and ordering of specialty pastry ingredients, while ensuring cost control.
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and food safety in the pastry section.
- Train and mentor junior pastry staff as required.
Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in upscale restaurants or luxury hotel pastry kitchens.
- Demonstrated portfolio of refined, visually stunning desserts.
- In-depth knowledge of classic and contemporary pastry techniques.
- Ability to work independently and efficiently in a fast-paced, fine-dining environment.
- Passion for innovation, detail-oriented plating, and ingredient-driven creativity.
- Culinary diploma or equivalent certification in pastry arts is preferred.
