Job Description:
Working at Fanshawe College
As an employee of Fanshawe College you may be required to work on-campus, remotely, or a combination thereof. Confirmation of your work location will be clarified with you upon hire, and may be subject to change based on the duties required of your position.
Note: This is a regular part-time position (up to 24 hours per week). This competition is open to external applicants and all employees of Fanshawe College; however, applications from Regular Part-time (RPT) members of the Part-time Support Staff bargaining unit will be given first consideration.
Duties: Reporting to the Associate Dean and under the general direction of the Coordinator for Early Childhood Education (ECE) and Educational Support (EDS) programs at Fanshawe’s Woodstock/Oxford Regional Campus, the Field Placement Liaison will support students, instructors, placement supervisors, and placement agencies for these programs as it relates to placement.
Duties may include:
- Work with coordinators to arrange placements according to program requirements
- Proactively engage with placement agencies, schools & school boards, child care centres, and businesses, both locally and across the Province, regarding placement opportunities; maintains an ongoing relationships and explores opportunities to generate new client activity and placements
- Ensures all placements meet professional and diploma/certificate requirements for the students
- Completes all health and safety and placement preparation with the students in advance of the placement dates including placement clearance
- Provides knowledgeable answers to questions about placements and program requirements to prospective students
- Provides guidance, expectations, and direction to mentors and preceptors within the placement agency about how to lead or support Fanshawe students
- Responds to placement agency/organization inquiries, issues, or concerns by gathering all available facts and outlining College policies and procedures to ensure that the agency/organization is satisfied with the response or is directed to the appropriate person for follow-up
- Collaborates with others at the College to ensure that a current Affiliation Agreement is in place with all agencies prior to the placement start dates
- Provides support in the preparation of program ensuring that all materials/handouts are available (class lists, instructions, manuals, supplies, etc.) for course start-up and updating registers and ensuring that required materials are available throughout the duration of the course
- Maintains efficient office systems including electronic documentation storage and an up-to-date procedure manual(s)
- Provides administrative support to faculty teaching these programs
QUALIFICATIONS
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in a field related to Education
- Minimum 3 years’ experience working in a related field in one or both ECE and EDS. Experience teaching in the field is an asset.
- An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered; preference will be given to applicants meeting the education requirements
- Demonstrated problem-solving, interpersonal, and customer service skills, along with excellent written and verbal communications and the ability to speak with both large and small groups
- Ability to work with multiple and often competing deadlines, as well as establishing priorities with minimal supervision
- Demonstrated strong organizational skills and the ability to meeting competing priorities and deadlines
- Ability to work in a team environment and under high volume/pressure situations in a collaborative and conciliatory way
- Demonstrated strong relationship-building skills
