Job Summary:
The Order Picker Team Lead is responsible for leading and collaborating with the order picking team to ensure the accurate and efficient picking, packing, and shipment of orders. This role requires close coordination with team members and various departments, including packaging, production, shipping, and receiving, to meet sales demands, fulfill orders accurately, and maintain high product quality standards. The Team Lead will work alongside team members, manage performance, and ensure that all tasks are completed in a timely and organized manner, fostering a collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Sales Order Fulfillment:
- Collaborate and work with team members to ensure all orders are picked, packed, and correctly labeled with customer name and product details.
- Work with team and packaging supervisors to ensure orders are ready for shipment and daily pickup, including after-hours pickups if necessary.
- Coordinate with drivers to ensure orders are routed correctly and ready for shipment the night before.
Communication & Coordination:
- Collaborate with team members to ensure orders are picked and packed correctly by route and driver, and that each order sheet is accurate with the correct date code, order quantity, and total unit/skid count.
- Ensure orders are stored correctly in coolers or freezers and that team members follow proper storage procedures.
- Maintain regular communication with packaging, production, and shipping supervisors to ensure smooth operations and timely order fulfillment.
- Coordinate with packaging supervisors to adjust stock levels based on sales order quantities and product availability.
- Work with the receiving department to ensure sufficient packaging materials are available and communicate stock levels to the packaging supervisor.
- Collaborate with the shipping department to ensure all orders are ready for daily or weekly shipments and same-day pickups.
CCP, Quality Assurance & Quality Control:
- Ensure that team members receive products from packaging that meet SSF quality standards and have the correct traceability codes.
- Oversee proper storage of products and report any quality concerns or issues with inventory.
- Conduct regular random quality checks (quantity, weight, presentation) and ensure products meet SSF standards.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of coolers and freezers, ensuring FIFO principles are followed and inventory is well-managed.
Team Management & Supervision:
- Supervise daily team operations to ensure tasks are completed on time and team members are punctual for shifts.
- Monitor overtime, ensuring team members have valid reasons for extended hours, and maintain efficient use of work time.
- Ensure FIFO compliance and that team members adhere to proper procedures for moving products within coolers and freezers.
- Report on team attendance, performance, and any issues related to work hours or breaks.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure all preparation work is completed and that necessary equipment is available for the team at the start of each shift.
- Provide guidance and training to team members to ensure accurate and efficient task completion.
- Manage team breaks, ensuring at least one team member is always present on the floor.
Inventory Control:
- Work with the team to monitor stock levels and ensure minimum product quantities are maintained weekly.
- Complete weekly inventory checks for coolers and freezers, reporting any discrepancies.
- Oversee the cleanliness and organization of storage areas, including packaging material management.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent (required).
- 2-3 years of experience in a warehouse, inventory, or order fulfillment environment.
- Previous team leadership or supervisory experience is preferred.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments and with team members.
- Strong organizational skills with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail.
- Basic computer skills (MS Office, ERP systems).
- Ability to lift and move heavy products and work in cooler/freezer conditions when required.
