We are currently hiring for an experienced Detailer - Miscellaneous Metals / Structural Steel, for our Newmarket office, with a proven track record in creating shop drawings with the exact details required for fabrication and installation, as well as the breakdown of each assembly into its component parts. This role is responsible for producing detailed shop drawings and erection drawings of steel stairs, railings, shelf angles, miscellaneous structural supports, material specifications, member sizes, all required dimensions, welding, bolting, surface preparation, coating requirements, along with any other information necessary to describe each completed part and more.
Specifically, you will….
· Produce detailed shop drawings and erection drawings for steel stairs, railings, shelf angles, miscellaneous structural supports, structural steel, and other related components.
· Specify exact details required for fabrication and welding for each individual assembly, including the breakdown of each assembly into its component parts.
· Assist team members and managers with design, detail, and field condition concerns and drawings.
· Ensure all drawings clearly display dimensions and are complete in relation to job requirements.
· Include material specifications, member sizes, all required dimensions, welding, bolting, surface preparation, and coating requirements in shop drawings.
· Review and revise drawings to ensure accuracy and compliance with industry standards and project specifications.
· Collaborate with engineer, project managers, fabricators, welders, and other team members to clarify drawing details and resolve any issues.
· Maintain accurate records of all drawings and revisions, ensuring they are up-to-date and accessible.
· Stay informed on industry standards, codes, and best practices to ensure high-quality and compliant drawings.
· Communicate effectively with stakeholders to ensure all project specifications are met and adhered to.
· Provide technical support and guidance to ensure the successful execution of projects.
· Ensure final shop drawings and erection drawings are complete and ready for use in fabrication and construction.
· Other duties as required.
Qualifications Required:
· 5+ years’ experience as a Steel Detailer or Miscellaneous Metals Detailer drawing steel stairs, railings etc.
· Graduate of a recognized University or College in a related discipline or equivalent experience
· Successful completion of College course in Detailing – an asset, but not required.
· A thorough understanding of Miscellaneous Metals / Steel Detailing and math skills.
· Spatial visualization awareness and a decent understanding of industry business practices in detailing, engineering and fabrication.
· Organized with a high level of communication both written and verbal.
· You are proactive and a logical thinker who takes initiative to solve problems early.
· Able to work independently and perform duties with minimal supervision.
· Able to develop and produce fabrication drawings, process diagrams and or models in accordance with effective norms, techniques and specifications.
· Experience and knowledge of stairways, railings and misc. steel codes, material finishes, and shop preferences.
· Knowledge and understanding of the complete process involved with miscellaneous steel detailing as well as structural detailing/drawings.
· Knowledge of Computer-assisted design (CAD) software including AutoCAD and Tekla.
· Intermediate skills with office software including Microsoft Office, Adobe, Bluebeam.
· Able to read engineering and architectural plans.
· Detail-oriented, precise and organized.
· Able to organize multiple jobs and complete on time and with quality.
· Excellent oral and written communication skills.
· Diligent checking and editing work prior to releasing.
· Asks questions when in doubt or if further information is needed.

Pay: $75,000.00-$95,000.00 per year
