Job Summary:We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Medical Office Assistant to oversee the day-to-day operations of our Medical clinic. A Medical Office Assistant plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of the Medical clinic.
Administrative Duties:
Patient Reception: Greet and check in patients, ensuring they complete necessary paperwork and have a positive first impression of the office.
Appointment Scheduling: Manage patient appointments, including scheduling, rescheduling, and cancellations.
Medical Records Management: Maintain patient records, ensuring they are accurate, confidential, and up-to-date.
Billing and Coding: Assist with medical billing and coding tasks, including verifying insurance information and submitting claims.
Insurance Verification: Verify patient's provincial insurance coverage and benefits, explaining them to patients when necessary.
Front Desk Operations: Answer phones, respond to inquiries, and direct calls to the appropriate healthcare professionals.
Inventory Management: Order and maintain office supplies and equipment as needed.
Payment Processing: Collect co-payments and payments from patients, as well as reconcile daily financial transactions.
Data Entry: Enter patient information and medical records into electronic health/medical record (EHR/EMR) systems accurately.
Filing and Organizing: Keep office files, documents, and medical records organized and easily accessible.
Clinical Duties:
Vital Signs: Record and document patients' vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and weight.
Assisting with Examinations: Prepare examination rooms, assist healthcare providers during exams, and clean and restock rooms after use.
Specimen Collection: Assist Nurse/Doctors to Collect and prepare specimens for laboratory testing.
Patient Education: Provide basic patient education on topics like medications, procedures, and post-treatment care.
Medical Equipment Maintenance: Ensure medical equipment is clean, functional, and properly sterilized.
Communication and Customer Service:
Patient Communication: Interact with patients and their families in a professional, compassionate, and empathetic manner.
Provider Communication: Act as a liaison between patients and healthcare providers, relaying messages and ensuring clear communication.
Referral Coordination: Assist in coordinating patient referrals to specialists when needed.
Problem Solving: Address patient concerns and resolve administrative issues effectively.
Regulatory Compliance: Stay up-to-date with medical office regulations and compliance requirements.
Technology Proficiency:
Electronic Health/Medical Records (EHR/EMR): Be proficient in using EHR/EMR system for patient data management.
MS Office Software: MS Word, Excel, Power point, etc.
Qualifications:
Education: Medical Office Assistant certification.
Medical Knowledge: Basic knowledge of medical terminology, procedures, and healthcare systems.
Interpersonal Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on patient care and customer service.
Organizational Skills: Excellent organizational skills to manage patient records and administrative tasks efficiently.
Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail in all tasks, including data entry and record-keeping.
