The Meat Department Supervisor is responsible for assisting the Meat Manager in the daily operations of the Meat Department. This includes attending to the needs of our customers, supervising other employees, product quality assurance and maintaining department standards, all in a professional, responsible, accurate and timely fashion.
· We are looking for someone who has previous experience with professional meat cutting within a Grocery Store (retail) setting.
· This is a Full Time position – 40 hours / week.
· Open availability is required – Days, Evenings and Weekends.

Job Description & Responsibilities:
· The Meat Department Supervisor is responsible for all aspects of meat counter operation in a retail environment, including, cutting, trimming, deboning and packaging meat and seafood products.
· Cut, trim, bone, tie, and grind meats, such as beef, pork, poultry, and fish, to prepare meat in cooking form.
· Prepare and place meat cuts and products in display counter, so they will appear attractive and catch the shopper's eye.
· Prepare special cuts of meat ordered by customers.
· Provide excellent customer service skills – enjoy serving customers with a friendly and approachable demeanor.
· Self-motivated with high energy and an engaging level of enthusiasm.
· Ability to work in an energetic, fast paced environment.
· Ability to multi-task – excellent organizational, time management and prioritizing skills.
· Effective communication and listening skills.
· Adhere to all department standard operating procedures, food safety protocols, health & safety policies and general store policies. Safety-conscious approach.
· Ensure all product is properly stored and rotated in the cooler and retail area.
· Assist in receiving incoming products and inspect for freshness and quality.
· Keep work area clean and presentable at all times.
· Awareness of product changes and seasonal requirements.
· Maintain a neat, well-groomed personal appearance and uniform.
Supervisor Skills Required:
· Provide assistance to the Department Manager in supervising and facilitating the daily operations of the department.
· Set a positive example within the department by showing exemplary customer service skills, a strong work ethic and confident leadership abilities – positive team attitude.
· Provide direction, guidance, motivation and instruction to all department employees as required.
· Ensure department standards, food safety protocols, health & safety policies and store policies are upheld by all employees.
· Oversee the readiness and appearance of the department in general and the quality of the product on the sales floor.
· Communicate with the Department Manager regularly with any issues affecting the department.
· Take initiative when problems arise – professional demeanor under stressful situations.
· Work with the Department Manager in designing merchandising layouts.
Physical Demands:
· Walking, standing, reaching, bending, twisting, ability to carry/lift 80 lbs.
