PavCo is the owner and operator of two of Canada’s premier venues for events, BC Place Stadium and the Vancouver Convention Centre. We are hiring a Manager, Security Operations for our iconic Vancouver Convention Centre (VCC).
The Manager, Security Operations oversees the day-to-day responsibility for the VCC security program, which is vital in ensuring the public safety of guests, partners, and employees. This role oversees the policies, procedures, and systems related to all aspects of security for the venue and surrounding infrastructure, and acts as the operational manager for the security partner contract.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Providing leadership to the Guest Services Operations Centre (GSOC), the communications and operations hub of the building that performs as the backbone of VCC public safety & event delivery
- Liaising with other departments to plan and coordinate security resources for year-round events
- Developing, implementing, managing, and communicating policies and procedures related to all aspects of security
- Managing the Operations Leads and Operations Coordinators
- Overseeing incident investigations, access control systems, fire systems, and security systems (alarms and closed-circuit camera systems)
- Determining issue resolution for escalated Incident and First Aid Reports
- Acting as operational manager for security partner contract
- Playing a critical role in emergency response as back up for both Incident Commander and Operations Chief during incident command and in overseeing drills
- Post-secondary education and training in relevant discipline(s) including security services, policing public/business administration or emergency management
- ICS 200 Certificate from JIBC and Security Worker License considered assets
- 5-7 years experience in a complex and dynamic environment managing public safety & security in a large venue including event security and crowd management with a focus on leadership and developing strong teams
- Thorough knowledge and comprehension of applicable legislation, regulations, standards, professional principles and practices (Building and Fire Code, the Criminal Code of BC, Provincial Statutes, Municipal by-laws)
- Experience in contract management
- Sound working knowledge of a wide variety of standard software applications including Ungerboeck (EBMS), Microsoft Office, and cloud-based software
- Comfortable using a broad range of communications styles; able to choose appropriate, effective ways to communicate to different audiences in diverse situations
- Critical thinking skills
