Millards is currently seeking a motivated Manager with previous assurance/accounting experience to join our team. The ideal candidate will provide assurance and accounting services to our clients, be adaptable to the multiple requirements of the role, work within a confidential environment, be flexible, reliable and be able to communicate with clients on regular basis.
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities
· Contribute to team engagement by demonstrating excellent leadership skills
· Detail review and prepare certain parts of audit, review and compilation engagements
· Provide improvements to internal control systems and best business practices to clients
· Develop and implement strategies for clients to capitalize on business tax opportunities efficiently
· Identify corporate and associated personal tax issues and opportunities, including compensation planning
· Identify potential tax and accounting issues and preparing memoranda, client letters and reports
· Conduct accounting and assurance research and staying on top of standard changes and consider their impact on the firm’s clients
· Manage own schedule to ensure client reporting deadlines are met
· Support, train, and mentor team members
Education and Professional Skills/Knowledge
· Minimum of five (5) years of accounting experience in a public accounting practice
· Canadian Chartered Professional Accountant Designation (CPA, CA)
· Thorough understanding and experience with current auditing/assurance standards and practices
· Exceptional client service and interpersonal skills
· Ability to prioritize, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines
· Proficiency in CaseWare, Taxprep (or equivalent tax software), and Microsoft Office is a plus
· Experience in issues relevant to owner-managed businesses
· Eagerness to be continuously learning and gaining experience in a broad range of skillsets
