SUMMARY
Providence Living is a non-profit Catholic-sponsored health care organization focused on long-term care, assisted living, housing, and other community services to support seniors and their family members. This role performs maintenance and repair duties related to the building, grounds and equipment in one of a variety of areas such as electrical, plumbing, carpentry and painting.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Training, and Experience
- Grade 10 plus two years recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
- Valid driver’s license.
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to deal with others eff ectively.
- Ability to organize work.
- Ability to operate related equipment.
- Physically capable of carrying out duties of the position.
KEY RESPONSABILITIES:
Perform general repairs and maintenance on furniture, walls, doors, windows, flooring, and ceilings.
Repair and replace plumbing fixtures, including sinks, toilets, and supply/waste lines.
Troubleshoot and repair electrical and mechanical equipment (e.g., wheelchairs, kitchen appliances); install switches, timers, and outlets.
Conduct regular inspections of fire safety systems and report or repair defects.
Apply paint and surface finishes; replace floor and wall coverings (e.g., tile, carpet, linoleum).
Maintain preventive maintenance procedures and recommend or purchase repair parts as needed.
Operate a company vehicle to pick up supplies.
Move heavy equipment and furniture as required.
Participate in meetings, in-services, and job-related training.
Clear snow from building entrances.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
