The responsabilities for this role are to:
- Coordinate, delegate, and ensure the execution of daily maintenance activities;
- Plan, supervise, and lead a maintenance team of skilled tradespeople (mechanics, machinists, pipe fitters, welders, automation electrical technicians) responsible for maintaining and improving equipment and facilities;
- Actively promote a safe work environment focused on full compliance with laws, policies, and BP Canada regulations;
- Actively promote a team-oriented work culture and environment;
- Support and empower the maintenance team by providing training, tools, and necessary access to maintain and develop their autonomy;
- Collaborate with the maintenance planner and technicians to ensure the efficiency and quality of preventive and corrective maintenance work by defining and respecting priorities;
- Ensure that staff are adequately trained and implement or update maintenance standards;
- Participate in the deployment of the World Class Manufacturing (WCM) continuous improvement program for the reliability and professional maintenance pillar;
- Lead root cause analysis of breakdowns using Saint-Gobain methods and tools with maintenance employees.
Other duties and responsibilities
- Provide training, guidance, and motivation to maintenance staff;
- Lead coordination meetings with employees;
- Monitor the departmental performance indicators;
- Define and participate in action plans;
- Use a computerized maintenance management system (SAP PM);
- Monitor and evaluate work results and direct reports performance;
- Coordinate the installation of new equipment;
- Coordinate emergency meetings and major breakdown analyses with maintenance staff and engineers;
- Performs other related duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.
IS THIS JOB FOR YOU?
- College diploma in engineering (mechanical or electrical) or equivalent;
- 3–5 years of experience with supervisory responsibilities in a unionized environment;
- Experience in heavy industry with continuous operations (an asset);
- Strong practical mechanical/electrical aptitude;
- Experience leading continuous improvement initiatives, TPM, 5S (an asset);
- Ability to lead a team and make decisions under pressure in a fast-paced environment;
- Ability to coach and manage direct reports while maintaining high standards of work quality;
- Excellent problem solving skills;
- Strong communication and coaching skills;
- Ability to organize and plan resources;
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel (an asset), and SAP PM software (an asset);
- Proven success in team collaboration;
- Automation skills (an asset).
Physical Demands
Must be able to spend a significant amount of time on plant floor. Job includes tasks that require walking, bending, twisting, gripping, stair and ladder climbing, entering confined spaces, navigating rough terrain. Must be able to wear the required personal protective equipment to comply with company safety standards.
