Position Overview:
We are seeking a proactive and mechanically inclined individual to join our team as a Maintenance & Continuous Improvement Technician. This hybrid role offers the opportunity to work hands-on with equipment, tools, and infrastructure while also learning and applying Continuous Improvement (CI) principles to support operational efficiency. This is an ideal position for a self-starter who enjoys fixing, building, and improving processes in a dynamic manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintenance & Mechanical Duties (Primary):
- Perform preventative maintenance and minor repairs on manufacturing equipment, hand tools, power tools, and facility systems.
- Troubleshoot mechanical and basic electrical issues on the production floor.
- Support machine installation, relocation, and equipment upgrades as needed.
- Maintain organized, safe, and clean workspaces across all maintenance-related areas.
- Collaborate with outside contractors and vendors when necessary.
- Assist with facility-related improvements (e.g., lighting, ventilation, shelving, etc.).
Project & General Support:
- Support day-to-day operational needs including setup, teardown, fabrication, and special project work.
- Assist supervisors and managers with facility upgrades, tooling improvements, and efficiency-related projects.
- Participate in cross-functional teams working on plant improvement initiatives.
Continuous Improvement (Learning & Development):
- Receive training on CI tools and principles such as 5S, Root Cause Analysis, Kaizen, and Standard Work.
- Assist with data collection and basic analysis to identify waste and improvement opportunities.
- Help implement CI projects aimed at increasing safety, quality, and productivity.
- Support culture-building efforts around operational excellence and employee involvement.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in mechanical maintenance, millwright, or general facility maintenance (manufacturing experience is an asset).
- Comfortable using hand and power tools; welding or light fabrication skills a plus.
- Willingness to learn and apply Lean/CI concepts in a hands-on environment.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
- Reliable, organized, and able to work independently or with a team.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification or trades training is an asset.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
