Position Summary:
Reporting to the Maintenance Manager the Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing preventive, routine, and emergency maintenance and repair tasks across multiple properties. This role requires travel between sites; therefore, a valid driver’s license with a clean abstract is mandatory. The technician ensures properties are maintained in good condition, supporting tenant satisfaction and protecting asset value.
Key Responsibilities:
1. General Maintenance & Repairs
- Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs on building systems (plumbing, electrical, HVAC, lighting, mechanical, and structural).
- Address tenant service requests and work orders promptly and professionally.
- Repair and maintain appliances, fixtures, doors, windows, flooring, and other building components.
- Conduct basic carpentry, painting, drywall, and minor renovations as required.
2. Property Operations Support
- Assist with upkeep of common areas, grounds, and building exteriors.
- Support seasonal maintenance such as snow removal, lawn care, and de-icing.
- Maintain cleanliness and safety standards in mechanical and utility rooms.
3. Preventive Maintenance & Compliance
- Carry out scheduled preventive maintenance tasks according to company standards.
- Test and ensure fire safety, life safety, and building systems are compliant with regulations.
- Report potential hazards, code violations, or major repair needs to the supervisor.
4. Multi-Site Responsibilities
- Travel between assigned properties to provide timely maintenance coverage.
- Coordinate with the Property Management team to prioritize work orders across sites.
- Maintain accurate records of work completed at each property.
5. Vendor & Team Assistance
- Liaise with contractors and vendors for specialized repairs.
- Assist property staff and cleaners during move-ins, move-outs, and turnovers.
- Provide occasional support during after-hours emergencies on a rotating schedule.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical/vocational training is an asset.
- 2–3 years of experience in property/building maintenance is a must.
- Strong knowledge of basic electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and carpentry repairs.
- Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment safely.
- Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean abstract (mandatory).
- Ability to work independently and travel between sites as needed.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks as required.
Working Conditions:
- Full-time, with occasional evening/weekend emergency calls.
- Work performed at multiple residential and commercial property locations.
- Exposure to indoor/outdoor conditions and maintenance hazards.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: From $21.50 per hour
Expected hours: 37 – 42 per week
