Job Description:
We are looking to hire an experienced full-time Load Planner for our London, Ontario terminal. The Load Planer is responsible for supporting our operations team with daily tasks to ensure freight is moving efficiently and cost-effective manner. NB: This role embodies an exceptional career opportunity for a person familiar with the transportation industry.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Determine the most efficient and economical route. Utilize optimization software and determine the most cost-effective routes and freight movement which fully meet the customer service requirements while maximizing profit.
- Review previous day's loads for success and failures and provide metrics. Initiate investigations into causes of damage or shortages of consignments.
- Organize and consolidate LTL shipments into delivery runs to facilitate improved transit times and customer service while reducing transportation expenses.
- Monitor shipments to ensure on-time delivery, reporting issues to warehousing and procurement.
- Provide outstanding customer service based on timely and accurate feedback to appropriate questions relative to assigned duties.
- Assist stakeholders in resolving issues regarding loading, unloading, appointments, unplanned accessorial and communicate to appropriate parties as necessary.
- Analyze existing shipping processes for possible improvements and provide support for various implementation plans.
- All other duties and responsibilities as delegated by the Manager.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a Load Planner or similar is considered a strong asset.
- A strong geographic knowledge of the area is required.
- Well-organized, punctual, and computer literate—with an emphasis on spreadsheets and email applications relevant to logistics.
- Previous experience in the transportation industry, or a related administrative role is preferred.
- Thorough understanding of transportation regulations and best practices.
- Exceptional interpersonal and written communication skills.
