Job Duties
The Learning Technology Trainer plays a pivotal role in training and assisting faculty and programs with the integration of established and emerging learning technologies. This dynamic position requires a passionate educator who excels in relationship building, fostering long-term partnerships with clients and assisting faculty and programs with the integration of established and emerging learning technologies. This dynamic position requires a passionate educator who excels in relationship building, fostering long-term partnerships with clients and partners. The ideal candidate possesses a robust technical proficiency across a spectrum of educational tools, including learning management systems, video conferencing solutions, media streaming services, and the Microsoft Office 365 suite.
The Trainer has a diverse teaching experience, and can effectively deliver learning in different modes, such as face-to-face, online, and blended settings, adapting to synchronous, asynchronous, and adjustable learning situations. A forward-thinker, the Trainer proactively researches and evaluates new technologies, assessing their potential to enhance educational practices. They are instrumental in collaborating with other departments and academic programs to pilot and implement innovative technologies.
Moreover, the Trainer is responsible for the creation and curation of comprehensive training materials, ensuring they are accessible and beneficial for faculty development. Through consultation and problem-solving, they assist faculty in overcoming challenges, thereby advancing the institution’s Strategic Plan and the Technology Enhanced Learning Plan.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND EXPERIENCE

Specific Accountabilities
1. Facilitate training and provide assistance to faculty and staff in the adoption of instructional technologies, with an emphasis on leveraging emerging technologies to enhance the teaching and learning experience.
2. Champion the advancement of technology-enhanced learning, aligning with Saskatchewan Polytechnic’s Strategic Plan and the Division of Learning and Teaching’s Technology Enhanced Learning Plan.
3. Offer expert advice and support to faculty on emphasizing the use of instructional and emerging technology to foster innovative and engaging learning environments.
4. Guide faculty and programs in selecting, implementing, and using technology to enrich teaching and learning, including problem-solving, research, resource recommendation, and strategic collaboration for technology integration.
5. Create and update training documentation and materials, conduct personalized training sessions, and lead workshops on instructional technology applications including Brightspace, video conferencing applications (e.g., Zoom), streaming media (e.g., Kaltura), Microsoft 365 suite of tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Copilot, SharePoint and Teams), and other prevalent educational technology tools.
6. Collaborate with Learning and Teaching staff and other departments to develop and promote comprehensive faculty training and consultation services.
7. Take the lead in researching, analyzing, planning, developing, and advocating for the adoption of emerging technologies in teaching and learning, in sync with Saskatchewan Polytechnic’s Strategic Plan and the Technology-Enhanced (TEL) initiative.
8. Perform other duties as assigned.
9. Be prepared for travel as part of the role.

Duties

Required Qualifications, Skills and Abilities (QSA)
1. A Bachelor’s Degree in Education is essential, with a preference for a Master’s degree. Specialization in education technologies or instructional design.
2. At least two years of post-secondary teaching experience is necessary, with a strong application of adult learning principles and modern pedagogical approaches using educational technologies, including emerging technologies.
3. Superior interpersonal skills are required, including excellent client service, presentation, and communications abilities to effectively engage with faculty and staff.
4. Proven experience with in providing training and consultation in learning technologies is needed, with the ability to tailor delivery to various audiences and skills levels.
5. Recent experience with instructional technologies, learning management systems, emerging technologies, and proficiency in Microsoft 365 tools for instruction.
6. Evidence of creativity and innovation in applying learning and emerging technologies, as well as adherence to Universal Design for Learning and other inclusive education principles, is highly valued.
7. A thorough understanding of education technology products and implementation strategies, with the ability to research and solve problems related to new or untested methods and applications.
8. Skills in developing of blended and online courses, along with applying instructional design principles, and ensuring accessibility and adaptability in learning materials.
9. The ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment, with strong planning and organizational skills, is necessary to meet diverse needs under tight timelines.
10. Experience working with diverse groups and a demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and indigenization are critical.
