Position Summary:
Volatus Academy is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Drone Trainer & E-Learning Development Specialist to support the creation and delivery of industry-leading drone training programs. The ideal candidate brings a combination of RPAS operational experience, instructional design expertise, and technical proficiency in GIS and thermography, with a passion for delivering fast, engaging, and accessible learning experiences to a global audience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and deliver both online and in-person drone training for diverse global audiences
- Translate technical subject matter (e.g., thermography, GIS, SAR, aerial inspections) into digestible, learner-friendly content
- Create e-learning materials including video lessons, assessments, downloadable resources, and practical assignments
- Work with internal teams to align content with certification standards, operational procedures, and client needs
- Leverage learning management systems (e.g. LearnWorlds) to build and maintain training programs
- Support continuous improvement by incorporating learner feedback and updating training content accordingly
- Collaborate across departments to meet tight deadlines and maintain a high standard of content delivery
Assist in the migration of educational content from legacy platforms to LearnWorlds
Qualifications:
Required:
- Certified drone pilot with documented training/instruction experience
- Demonstrated experience in developing e-learning or digital training content
- Strong working knowledge of GIS software/tools (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS)
- Applied knowledge of thermography, with certification or field experienced preferred
- Proficiency in digital content creation tools (e.g., video editing, screen recording, instructional design software)
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, remote environment
- Excellent communication skills in English
Preferred:
- Experience using LearnWorlds or equivalent LMS platform
- Experience developing training for corporate, public safety, or infrastructure-related drone use cases
- Proficiency in additional languages (e.g. French, Spanish, etc.)
Experience with accessibility best practices in online education
