Position: English Language Learning Instructor (Part-time Contract Position)
Reports to: Program Director and collaborates closely with the ELL Team Lead
Salary: $23.50 - $25.00 per hour, based on experience
Are you passionate about lifelong learning, community engagement and empowering adult learners? We're looking for a dedicated, detail-oriented ELL Instructor to join our team. Starting in September, in this role you will support English Language Learners in a classroom setting, helping them build confidence and communication skills. If you're organized, patient, and care about your community, we'd love to hear from you. Must live in Lloydminster or surrounding area. This is not a remote job.
About the Program:
As an ELL instructor for a 10-week course helping newcomers build their English skills, you will teach classes Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6:30 - 8:30 pm at Lakeland College. With 4 hours of paid prep time each week you will be paid for your time as develop fun and impactful lessons, using the program guidelines and support we provide. The successful candidate is passionate about community impact, thrives in fast-changing environments, and enjoys working collaboratively.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver engaging. student-centered ELL instructions on Tues/Thurs evenings.
- Create a welcoming and supporting learning environment.
- Track student attendance, progress and write basic reports for grant documentation.
- Be available to attend training sessions, meetings, and presentations to enhance teaching skills and stay update on best practices, mostly during office hours.
- Provide referrals to community resources and support services as needed to facilitate learner success.
- Ensure the setup and tidiness of the program facility to create a conducive learning environment.
Requirements and Qualifications:
- Clean Criminal Record Check
- Reliable access to a vehicle
- Speak English clearly
- Ability to work in a multicultural environment
- Experience working with newcomers, facilitating small groups or teaching
- Post-Secondary education or equivalent professional experience ideal but not required
- Demonstrated ability to tailor program content and activities to meet the varied needs of learners
