Nuba in Gastown, the original Nuba restaurant which was inspired by an independent and modern Beirut during the 1940s, is a roomy underground space in the basement of the Dominion Building with a 60+ seat capacity and a 36-foot bar. Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Kitchen Supervisor and Line Cook. In this role, you will play a vital part in delivering exceptional food service. You will be responsible for various tasks related to kitchen staff training, food preparation procedures, and cooking, all while adhering to food safety standards. This position is ideal for someone with a passion for the food industry who is looking for growth potential in kitchen management with a desire to contribute to a dynamic kitchen environment.
Duties
- Oversee daily kitchen operations to ensure efficiency, quality and safety
- Performing duties like managing staff, controlling inventory, monitoring food preparation and presentation and enforcing hygiene standards
- Key responsibilities include ordering supplies, maintaining a clean work environment, and ensuring compliance with health codes and food safety regulations.
- This role involves training staff, collaborating with the kitchen team, and potentially assisting with menu planning and cost control
- Cook menu items according to established recipes and standards.
- Assist in meal preparation, including chopping, slicing, and assembling ingredients.
- Handle food items with care, ensuring proper storage and handling practices are observed.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth kitchen operations during peak hours.
Experience
- Previous experience in the restaurant leadership/supervision is required.
- Familiarity with cooking techniques, food preparation methods, and kitchen equipment is required.
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in food handling is required.
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail is essential.
