Established in 1983, Snowy Owl Sled Dog Tours is the founder and premier dog sled touring company in the Bow Valley. As a family-owned and operated company, we are passionate about humane and ethical dog sledding and dedicated to the highest standard of care for our 180 husky heroes.
We are seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented, and hard-working Kennel Attendant to join our team. This is a physically demanding, outdoor-based role where you will help oversee all aspects of daily kennel operations and ensure the safety, health, and enrichment of our dogs.
The Ideal Candidate
- Loves dogs and has breed knowledge (sled dog experience is an asset)
- Enthusiastic, dependable, and positive
- Physically fit and energetic, with a love for the outdoors
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
- Comfortable working in all weather conditions
- Committed to high cleanliness and sanitation standards
- Experience with multiple dogs (beyond personal ownership) preferred
- Prior kennel management or veterinary experience is an asset
Key Responsibilities
- Provide daily love, care, feeding, and enrichment for sled dogs
- Maintain daily cleaning and sanitation routines
- Monitor dog health and administer medications as needed
- Ensure safety standards, procedures, and protocols are always met
- Maintain kennel supplies inventory
- Communicate clearly and professionally with staff
- Use and maintain building equipment, supplies, and dog gear properly
- Assist with special projects, events, and promotions as required
- Set a positive example for co-workers with professionalism and punctuality
Job Requirements
- Legally able to work in Canada
- Current First Aid & CPR certification
- Must be active, energetic, and outdoor-loving with the highest standards in dog care
Compensation & Schedule
- Wage: $18.00–$19.00/hour (based on experience)
- Additional Pay: Bonus pay, overtime pay
- Schedule: 10-hour shifts, 4 days on / 3 days off, weekends & holidays required
- Work Location: In person, Canmore, AB
