Summary:
Under the direction of the HSE Supervisor, the HSE Advisor will work closely with the department managers and assist with safety related administrative tasks, support Steep Bank Earth , future projects, and as well as attend team meetings and other meetings as requested. The incumbent is to conduct all activities in a manner that supports the mission the vision and values of Fort McKay Group of Companies LP This is a safety-sensitive position that requires completion of pre-employment/pre-access testing.
Key Focus:
- Conducting Field Tours, Worker Observations and Work Site Safety Inspections
- Investigate incidents, near misses, and hazardous conditions. Complete incident causation analysis, develop, implement and follow up on corrective actions
- Attend toolbox meetings, pre-job planning/kick offs, monthly safety meetings, weekly client and HSE team meetings
- Create and conduct safety meetings
- Create procedures, accept Standards and ensure they are compliant with OHS & client standards
- Participate in Audits
- Quality check, count and file operations documentation then update site based statistics
- Take lead in creating Job Safety Analysis and perform updates as conditions and processes change
- Maintain a working knowledge of current OH&S legislation, Federal and Provincial laws as well as company standards and policies
- Provide mentoring to workers and leaders in maintaining safe work habits and practices
- Participate and contribute with ongoing procedural, policy and other documentation development and updates as required
- HSE Advisors are responsible for making immediate interventions on unsafe acts
- High School Diploma or GED required
- OH&S Certificate or Diploma course (minimum requirement is enrollment in the program)
- NCSO Certification is required
- Minimum one (1) year of experience is required
- One (1) to three (3) years of experience in one or more areas: Oil industry, Gas, Trucking, Procurement, Warehousing.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office- including Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook
- Valid class five (5) or up Alberta drivers license and clean 3 year drivers abstract- will be required to access certain oil sand sites.
- CSTS and OSSA or BSO or CSO is required
- Must be physically/ mentally fit and have the ability to safely drive in mining atmospheres alone
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal, problem- solving and listening skills
- Must have good experience of mining and mechanical knowledge
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
Work schedule: Monday to Friday, 8 hours/ day.
