Every Q2 Artificial Lift Services employee is expected to conduct themselves in a professional manner.
The basic function is to provide health and safety support to the Q2 Canadian Manufacturing and Q2 Canadian Field operations. The HSE Coordinator is responsible for maintaining and updating procedures and written plans, safety training, orientation training and the completion of specified reports. The HSE Coordinator will also implement corporate HSE policy and procedures. They will provide support to the facility regarding HSE matters to ensure compliance with HSE policies/procedures and applicable agency regulations. The individual in this position must be able to work independently and assist others as required. The ability to bring new ideas to attention and work towards their implementation would also be an asset. Required to demonstrate strategic and operational expertise to the Q2 ALS team on all HSE matters.
The HSE Coordinator – Canadian Manufacturing, reports directly to the Director of HSE. They are to ensure that all projects are completed on time with quality and cost efficiency in mind.
Specific responsibilities include the following:
- Leading by example by following established Quality, Health and Safety policies & procedures.
- Showing respect and pride for facilities and equipment.
- 40 hours per week – Monday to Friday. Some flexibility will be required for working deadlines i.e. COR Safety Audits.
- Being responsible – on time for work and take breaks during designated times.
- Carrying out other tasks from time to time as assigned by a supervisor or request for assistance as needed.

Safety
- To continually coordinate and improve our HSE system to ensure maximum safety efficiency of employees and the public. Ensure implementation and maintenance to COR requirements.
- Develop and maintain the HSE communications bulletin board to ensure required documentation is readily available for review.
- Coordinate and participate in monthly HSE committee meetings.
- Create and complete monthly health and safety meeting material.
- HSE program implementation throughout the manufacturing division with aspects of the field store operations.
- Coordinate and complete Q2 WCB account(s), reporting and incident claims. Liaise with WCB adjudicators and case managers as required.
- Help facilitate the care of injured workers and assist in the management of daily activities regarding injury recovery.
- Investigate all incidents and ensure that reports are completed and submitted as required. Report incidents to Director of HSE for completed report approval.
- Ensure that all workers are informed of incidents and recommendations, or corrective measures to prevent their reoccurrence.
- Confirm and maintain all Q2 required health & safety documentation (i.e. incident reports, inspections reports, meeting minutes, near miss reports, new hire documentation, training documentation etc.).
- Communicate, coach and train staff in all matters of safety and ensure they are in adherence to laws, regulations and AASP COR requirements.
- Advise and assist with the development of orientation, onboarding, training and competency programs and processes.
- Ensure required new hire orientation and HSE training is conducted.
- Provide worker instruction/training as required (i.e. WHMIS, TDG & PPE).
- Make available to workers the applicable health and safety act, regulations and code. Ensure all applicable safe work procedures are available to the workers and followed on site.
- Administer HSE documentation and assisting in creation of new policies and procedures.
- Evaluate work procedures and environments to identify potential hazards and ensure controls are in place.
- Execute and coordinate HSE inspections and internal and external HSE audits.
- Create and maintain all emergency procedures, including emergency procedure training.
- Ensure that first aid and emergency response resources are in place and meet regulatory requirements.
- Document and maintain the company safety statistics and HSE database (Optic).
- Assist in the populating and updating of pre-qualification systems (ISN, ComplyWorks, Avetta & 8AM Solutions) and HSE client, vendor, and supplier qualifications, as required.
- Work closely with the Director of HSE and be a liaison for health and safety for Q2, specifically the Canadian Manufacturing.
- Provide support to Operations to ensure we are prepared to work from an HSE standpoint.
Outline the minimum educational & work experience requirements
- 2 - 5 years experience in the field
- Minimum must have a Grade 12 Diploma.
- Occupational Health & Safety Certificate or equivalent as asset or at the discretion of Management.
- Working knowledge of MS Office programs.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Working and implementation experience with Health & Safety legislation and systems (COR).
- Strong attention to detail.
- High ethical standards.
- Auditing experience/formal training is a positive.
