Savanna Well Servicing is currently hiring for a full-time HSE Advisor based out of Grande Prairie, AB.

General Statement of Duties:
  • Under the direction of the divisional Manager of Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE), and in close collaboration with the regional operations team, this position supports field activities to ensure they are conducted safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
  • This role is field-focused, requiring extensive travel to Savanna’s field operations (80% field; 20% office).

Supervision Received:
  • Reports directly to the Manager, HSE, or as specified in the offer letter. The position will also receive support and direction from the Senior HSE Advisor.

Summary of Duties
(Duties may include, but are not limited to the following):
  • Champion and model the Savanna One Principles, demonstrating integrity, accountability, teamwork, operational excellence, and a commitment to continuous improvement in all activities;
  • Ensure consistent implementation and effectiveness of the Safety Management System (SMS) across the assigned region;
  • Educate and mentor personnel on the application of Savanna’s SMS, industry best practices, and regulatory requirements, ensuring that HSE remains a key focus at the operational level;
  • Participate with operations safety meetings, pre-job planning meetings, Safe Starts, client review meetings, and safety training;
  • Develop strong operational knowledge of well servicing and completion techniques, activities and associated risks;
  • Perform regular rig inspections and HSE inspections to monitor compliance and identify opportunities for improvement;
  • Lead or support incident reporting and investigations, including root cause analysis and implementation of corrective/preventative actions; and participate with the HSE weekend on-call rotation;
  • Promote proactive hazard identification, risk elimination, and control strategies at the field level;
  • Utilize various data sets to identify operational safety trends and recommend loss prevention strategies;
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of OH&S legislation, AER directives, IRPs, and other relevant HSE standards and regulations (as applicable);
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support operational and HSE objectives.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Technical:
  • Formal training and experience in incident investigation; ability to complete detailed and accurate reports;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint);

Communication:
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including listening, informing, and effective follow-up.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and confidently with individuals and teams at all levels;
  • Remains composed and professional in emergency or high-pressure situations;
  • Maintains confidentiality and demonstrates ethical judgment in handling sensitive information.

Organizational:
  • Embodies the Savanna One Principles with a strong focus on integrity, accountability, and operational excellence;
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks, shifting priorities, and field logistics;
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; able to interpret data and recommend solutions;
  • Demonstrates sound judgment, adaptability, and resilience in dynamic work environments;
  • Effective in collaborative, team-based settings and able to work independently when required;
  • Ability to positively contribute within a team-oriented environment;
  • Willing and able to travel extensively to remote locations throughout Western Canada;

Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent;
  • Certificate/Diploma of Occupational Health and Safety (preferred);
  • At least 5 years of experience in a similar HSE role, with a commensurate background in practical field applications of workplace health, safety and environment processes in relevant industry is highly regarded;
  • Well servicing operations experience is a definite asset;
  • Extensive incident investigation training and experience (Root Cause Analysis);
  • Working knowledge of OH&S, AER, WCB Regulations, and IRPs;
  • Maintain all required training certificates and tickets as per Savanna’s training matrix for this position (i.e. Standard First Aid, H2S Alive, Blowout Prevention, etc.).
  • Must hold a valid Driver’s License in good standing with no more than six demerits within the past two years.

Special Conditions:
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively, including weekends, on-call coverage, and overtime;
  • May be required to work irregular or extended hours depending on operational needs.
  • Eligible candidates must be local to the Grande Prairie area.
