The Department of Transportation and Infrastructure is currently seeking qualified individual to fill Highway Construction Manager position located in Steinbach. Please note that the location may be changed to Winnipeg, depending on operational requirements.

Conditions of Employment:
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
- Civil Engineering Technologist diploma (CET) OR completion of the department level 3 training program.
- Must have a valid Class 5 driver's licence and be able to travel frequently to work sites within the Province by ground and/or air transportation.
- Must be able to work in office environment with frequent visits to work sites within the province by ground, waterways and air which may require overnight stays (possibly in a camp environment).
- Must be able to work in an outdoor work sites, exposure to road construction equipment, roadway traffic, asphalt plant area, noise, dust, hand/power tools, moving equipment, slip-trip-fall, carrying/twisting, insects, and vegetation & sharp objects.
- Must be able to work extended hours for periods of time as projects demands.
Qualifications:
Essential:
- Extensive experience with all types of roadway construction, including surveying, design, contract preparation and contract administration.
- Experience identifying and resolving complex problems and making recommendations to senior management.
- Experience in financial tracking, reporting and expenditure control as it relates to project management.
- Demonstrated leadership and supervisory experience with ability to coach and mentor staff.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong verbal communication skills.
- Strong written communication skills.
Duties:
The Highway Construction Manager is responsible for assisting the Senior Highway Construction Engineer in the delivery of the Regional Highway Infrastructure Capital Program. Provides engineering expertise, guidance and supervision (direct and indirect) to several Highway Project Technologists/Engineers, Engineering Service Providers and related technical staff. Member of the Regional Management Team, contributing to the overall planning, policy and administrative decisions within the Region.
