Support the well-being of the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish Nation) as a Health & Wellness / Disability Advisor. In this role, you will provide compassionate, trauma-informed guidance for employees navigating health challenges, disabilities, or extended absences. Your work will help create safe, sustainable pathways back to work while fostering a culture of dignity, respect, and cultural safety. Grounded in empathy and community values, your expertise will strengthen trust between employees, leaders, and partners, while ensuring compliance with legislation and best practices in disability and accommodation management.

What You’ll Do

  • Act as the primary point of contact for disability claims, health-related leaves, accommodations, and workplace wellness support.

  • Provide case management for short-term disability, long-term disability, workers’ compensation, and other health-related absences.

  • Develop individualized early intervention and return-to-work plans in collaboration with employees, managers, Elders/Knowledge Keepers, and healthcare providers.

  • Advise managers and employees on rights, responsibilities, and processes, ensuring approaches are culturally safe and trauma-informed.

  • Liaise with insurance carriers, healthcare professionals, and external providers to support timely and effective case resolution.

  • Monitor and analyze disability trends; recommend strategies to reduce absence duration and support employee wellness.

  • Ensure compliance with legislation (WorkSafeBC, BC Human Rights Code, Employment Standards, Canada Labour Code).

  • Coordinate and deliver wellness education and awareness initiatives to support mental, physical, and emotional health.

What We’re Looking For

  • Completion of a post-secondary Degree, or Diploma in Human Resources, Social Work, Occupational Health, Disability Management, Rehabilitation Services, or a related field.

  • Professional accreditation such as CDMP, CRTWC, CPHR, or willingness to obtain while in role.

  • Demonstrated experience providing trauma-informed case management in disability, health, or wellness programs.

  • Knowledge of applicable legislation (WorkSafeBC, Human Rights, Employment Standards).

  • Proven ability to work with empathy, discretion, and cultural humility in sensitive and complex situations.

  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders, including healthcare providers and community members.

  • Experience delivering health and wellness training or awareness initiatives is an asset

Salary: $ 75,000 - 112,500

Candidates are typically offered compensation between the beginning to the midpoint of the range. We are committed to providing a fair and equitable package that reflects the value an individual brings to the organization.
