The Wellness Support Specialist works with a team of volunteers, work study and practicum students on all wellness programming: initiatives, activities and events. The specialist offers feedback to students on well-being by answering questions in a confidential and sensitive manner while also advising about resources and wellness supports. The specialist works closely with the Centre's staff to ensure the effective programing of the Wellness Centre and the Centre's participation in pan-campus events and promotions.
MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Organizes and coordinates workflow, determining priorities and problem solving in order to meet the needs and requirements of the Wellness Centre; resolves issues while handling sensitive and confidential material.
- Handles wellness related inquiries: sexual health, mental health, and physical wellness.
- Arranges events: planning, marketing, and execution for wellness activities.
- Provides instruction, orientation and training to work study students, student leaders, auxiliary and other staff.
- Updates and creates wellness social media, website information, wellness resources, and proofreads content.
- Coordinates, prepares and maintains data, surveys and reports.
- Liaises with internal and external contacts regarding program requirements. Acts as departmental contact for internal and external partners.
- Tracks and maintains relevant expenditures to ensure budgets are maintained.
- Informs and advises both incoming and ongoing students of any missing documentation. Manages and enters student data and maintains files.
- Arranges meetings, locates and assembles background information, physical facilities and equipment.
- Maintains currency in student development and wellness theory and practices.

QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor's Degree in a related field
EXPERIENCE:
- Three years' experience working with specific populations of students and/or youth, including:
- Experience working with students' in a post-secondary environment
- Experience working in a case management support team
- Experience working in the wellness field
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE OR ABILITIES RELATED TO THE JOB
- Demonstrated comfort with human diversity in the areas of culture, disability, mental health, gender and sexual orientation
- Demonstrated knowledge of the student life cycle and experiences in a post-secondary environment
- Ability to operate and maintain several management information systems, often concurrently, and to maintain and report on data
- Ability to plan multiple tasks in a timely fashion
- Ability to learn new systems quickly
- Advanced computer knowledge with a high level of understanding of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, online booking systems and databases
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
- Ability to deal courteously and tactfully with students, staff and members of the general public
- Ability to manage student files, records and maintain student confidentiality
WORKING CONDITIONS

- Ability to lift weights up to 10 kg
