Job Title: Health and Safety Representative – Construction
Location: At Construction Sites
Job Type: [Full-Time / Part-Time]
Start Date: Immediate Start Available
About the Role:
We are looking for a proactive and knowledgeable Health and Safety Representative to join our construction team. This role is critical in ensuring the safety and well-being of all personnel on-site, maintaining compliance with safety regulations, and fostering a culture of safety.
Key Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Conduct regular site inspections and safety audits
- Identify hazards and implement corrective actions
- Lead safety meetings and toolbox talks
- Maintain detailed records of incidents, inspections, and training
- Ensure compliance with Alberta OH&S legislation and company policies
- Investigate workplace incidents and recommend preventive measures
- Collaborate with site supervisors and workers to promote safe practices
- Monitor use of PPE and ensure proper safety signage is in place
- Support emergency response planning and drills
Qualifications:
- Certification in Occupational Health and Safety (e.g., NCSO, CRSP,or equivalent)
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience in construction safety or related field
- In-depth knowledge of Alberta OH&S legislation and construction safety standards
- Strong communication, leadership, and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple job sites
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and safety management software
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- First Aid and CPR certification (preferred)
- WHMIS and CSTS certification (preferred)
- Experience conducting incident investigations and writing reports
- Ability to train and mentor workers on safety procedures and protocols
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
