We are searching for a Head of Commercial Data & AI Strategy to lead and transform our organization's data and analytics capabilities. This role involves developing and executing an integrated Data, Analytics, and AI strategy that accelerates commercial growth, drives business value, ensures data governance, and encourages collaboration across regions.
The Head of Commercial Data & AI Strategy will also lead the Canadian Data Operations team, ensuring the availability of quality, connected, and accessible data. This position will deliver innovative, data-driven solutions that enhance customer experience and boost market performance.
Accountabilities:
Strategic Leadership & Vision
- Lead the development & execution of Syngenta Canada’s Data, Analytics, and AI strategy aligned with business objectives and digital transformation initiatives.
- Establish and maintain a data & analytics roadmap that drives business value and competitive advantage.
- Collaborate with business leaders to identify, reimagine, and prioritize data-driven solutions and secure buy-in and resourcing for strategic initiatives.
- Champion the Data, Analytics & AI agenda within Syngenta Canada Inc., communicating the data strategy and initiatives to various audiences, from technical teams to executive leadership
- Drive data literacy & data-driven decision-making culture
Collaboration & Partnership:
- Establish & maintain strong partnerships with North American and Global Digital and AI leaders to leverage and adapt existing solutions and actively participate in global data initiatives to ensure Canadian business requirements are represented and addressed.
- Create visibility for Canadian initiatives that could benefit other regions& drive collaboration opportunities
Technical & Operational Excellence:
- Oversee the development of data architecture and infrastructure to support analytics capabilities and AI initiatives
- Act as the Jurisdictional Data Privacy Lead for a Canadian organization, ensuring robust data privacy governance & ensuring privacy-aware capabilities
- Monitor and report on key performance indicators related to data initiatives.
- Establish and maintain thought leadership in Data, Analytics, and AI through the monitoring of technologies & trends, and sharing best practices and insights with the organization
Team Development:
- Build high-performing Data Management and Analytics teams, fostering a culture of high performance, continuous learning, innovation, and growth
- Ensure the team is engaged as ambassadors of the Data & AI strategy
- Foster cross-functional collaboration
Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in data & technology leadership with 5+ years in a people leadership capacity
- Advanced degree in a quantitative-related field (e.g., Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering)
- Business acumen & strategy planning expertise
- Comprehensive knowledge of AI & Machine Learning frameworks & tools
- Comprehensive knowledge of enterprise data architecture & governance frameworks
- Experience in developing & implementing data strategies & digital transformation projects and change management.
- Track record of leading enterprise-wide data & AI initiatives
- Practical knowledge of tools, frameworks, and technologies in the following categories: Data Strategy (Data governance, data management), Business Intelligence (Power BI, Tableau, Qlik), Machine Learning (R, Python, SAS, SPSS), and Cloud Platforms (Google Azure, Amazon Web Services)
- Understanding and/or experience with Data Protection compliance with current legislation
- Excellent communication skills for conveying complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
