Future of Engagement (FoE) is a non-profit organization with the start-up mindset and the goal of making our democracy work for all communities in Canada. FoE leverages technology and data analysis to engage marginalized and underrepresented communities in all aspects of Canada’s politics.
- Informing communities about political processes and services
- Bring together volunteers with diverse personal and professional backgrounds to develop resources for underrepresented communities.
- Develop tools that help community leaders set up strategic campaigns, mobilize supporters, and promote their agendas.
Job Description
Will represent Future of Engagement and work with local campaigns and community members to support civic engagement initiatives and promote inclusive participation in the democratic process. Main tasks will involve building community relationships, gathering public input, sharing campaign materials, and relaying community concerns to FoE and campaign partners. This role will provide hands-on experience to youth interested in pursuing future roles in community organizing, political strategy, advocacy, and grassroots campaign work.
Tasks
- Reach prospective donors door to door and at fundraising community events
- Devise long-term fundraising strategies and oversee their successful implementation at all levels
- Prepare & create fundraising material, assets, and merchandise
- Develop strategies relevant to local issues and demographics in key electoral districts
- Summarize and draw conclusions from community input and relay insights to FoE and campaign teams
- Represent FoE and candidates at events and in public interactions
- Facilitate regular team meetings to share updates and coordinate strategy
Key skills and abilities
- Strong written, oral, and messaging skills
- Comfortable with public speaking and building rapport
- Problem solving and teamwork
- Organizational skills
- Leadership and ability to take initiative.
- Fluency in multiple languages an asset (Mandarin/Cantonese, French, Urdu, etc.)
- Ability to work independently, stay self-motivated, and managing your time well
- Equity-focused and inclusive mindset
- Strategic planning and donor mapping experience is an asset
Essentials
2 month contract
From $18.5 an hour, 35h/week
Must be under 30 years of age with either Canadian citizenship, permanent residency or refugee status
