Position: Fleet & Shop Manager

We’re seeking an organized, hands-on, and proactive Fleet & Shop Manager to oversee our fleet of vehicles, trailers, small engines, and landscaping tools — and to lead our shop operations with efficiency and care. Responsibilities:

As our Fleet & Shop Manager, you’ll ensure our vehicles, trailers, and equipment are well-maintained, safe, and ready to support our landscaping teams. You’ll also manage the organization and operation of our shop, overseeing inventory, repairs, and the mechanics team.


Fleet Management & Maintenance Oversight:

  • Develop and manage a preventative maintenance schedule for all trucks, trailers, and landscaping equipment
  • Coordinate repairs and servicing with in-house mechanics and external vendors
  • Track fleet performance (fuel usage, downtime, repair history) and recommend improvements
  • Manage seasonal transitions, ensuring readiness for peak operations needs.
  • Ensure all vehicles and equipment meet safety, legal, and regulatory standards (inspections, certifications, etc.)
  • Assist with license sticker renewals, CVOR renewal, Driver Logs, legal compliance by staying up to date with changes in road rules and legislation
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance, repairs, and inspections
  • Track equipment lifecycle, usage, maintenance history, and depreciation to inform replacement and investment decisions.
  • Install and maintain fleet tracking systems, including GPS, Electronic logs and MTS controllers.

Shop Operations & Inventory Management:

  • Lead the day-to-day operations of the shop, ensuring a clean, safe, and organized workspace
  • Manage parts and supply inventory, ensuring necessary stock levels and placing orders as needed
  • Support efficient workflow by organizing tools, parts, and equipment in the shop
  • Coordinate logistics for repairs and maintenance with field teams and mechanics

Team Leadership & Safety:

  • Work closely with the Service Operations Manager
  • Lead, support, and motivate the shop team, fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and teamwork
  • Provide guidance on equipment usage, care, and safety best practices
  • Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and training sessions
  • Communicate proactively with field teams to minimize downtime and resolve issues

Budgeting & Vendor Management:

  • Prepare and present procurement proposals
  • Monitor and manage fleet and shop expenses within budget guidelines
  • Build and maintain relationships with vendors for parts, supplies, and services
  • Monitor and control the maintenance and equipment budgets, reporting regularly to leadership during Monthly Management Meetings, and attend weekly Operations Meetings.
  • Source competitive pricing and negotiate favorable terms when possible

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience managing a fleet and/or shop operations (landscaping, construction, or similar industries preferred)
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems, small engines, and preventative maintenance practices
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Leadership abilities to guide and support a team
  • Valid driver’s license (DZ or higher is an asset)
  • Familiarity with fleet management software (preferred but not required)
