What you’ll do
Reporting to the Manager, IT Accounting, the Financial Analyst will play a key role within a dynamic accounting team. This position utilizes strong technical accounting knowledge to support the manager and other team members. This position also plays an important role in the support finance provides to our business partner – Information Systems Team. In addition, the incumbent will analyze the output of how others have recorded data and investigate anomalies and discrepancies to ensure accurate corporate reporting and adherence to accounting standards.
Ensure the financial results are in compliance with IFRS and provide accurate and timely reports and analysis to management on a monthly and quarterly basis. Support full cycle financial reporting including the preparation of journal entries and reconciliations
Analyze significant variances and key metrics for smaller business units. Present findings to manager and senior management.
Maintain up to date project status touchpoints with project managers and trigger accounting processes including entries on a timely basis.
Provide support and guidance to project managers with various accounting questions and processes ensuring accurate financial information.
Identify and execute process improvements to streamline efforts and improve the integrity of results.
Execute the impact of business decisions while following Accounting & Regulatory policies and procedures.
Maintain documentation of processes and controls
What you bring
University degree in Accounting or Finance areas
CPA designation (or in final stages of acquiring).
2-3 years’ experience in a medium/large company as a Financial Analyst/Accountant
Solid financial and IFRS technical skills and ability to apply to various business scenarios and provide accounting guidance to business
Strong problem solving, analytical and strategic thinking skills; able to see the “big picture” in a complex business environment
Natural curiosity to understand the reason behind transactions
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong relationships
Ability to thrive in an environment responsive to changing business requirements
Excellent attention to detail
Advanced PC skills including Microsoft suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Working knowledge of PeopleSoft accounting system and HFM is an asset
