The opportunity:
The Indigenous Engagement and Communications is looking for a part-time Financial Administrator. This position will be responsible for assisting with all financial planning, reporting, forecasting, and long-term projections. The Financial Administrator also oversees the development and administration of contracting services and individuals to fulfill the EleV Partnership’s strategic objectives.
The qualifications and experience we’re looking for:
PREFERENCE WILL BE GIVEN TO INDIGENOUS CANDIDATES. APPLICANTS MUST SELF-DECLARE ON THEIR COVER LETTER/RESUME AS INDIGENOUS (FIRST NATION, METIS AND/OR INUIT).
- Bachelors degree required, preferably in Commerce
- Professional designation in Accounting, CPA required.
- A combination of relevant experience and/or training will be considered.
- Five years of directly related experience working with government agency, university, large non-profit, tribal, Indigenous or corporate organization required.
- Proven record of working with Senior Level Executives.
- Experience working with Indigenous organizations, peoples, communities and governments required.
- Possesses a high degree of integrity and professionalism; tactful and diplomatic behaviour; and capacity to work in a fast-paced and team environment.
- Knowledge of Indigenous peoples history and contemporary realities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, and other software) and Outlook required.
- Excellent budgetary and accounting skills required.
- Excellent public speaking skills suitable for a variety of audience presentation required.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
- Excellent interpersonal skills required.
- Strong writing and editing skills required.
- Excellent organizational and management skills required.
- Excellent problem-solving skills required.
- Proficient in multi-tasking to meet competing deadlines required.
- Demonstrated ability to use cultural sensitivity and flexibility in decision making.
- Ability to work with many types of individuals in a sensitive environment required.
- Ability to use in-house University software systems is essential (Epic, Concur, FAST and Banner).
- Ability to take initiative, act in a high degree of tact, diplomacy and discretion when dealing with confidential matters and partnership development required.
- Ability to adapt to changing environments and circumstances required.
