Role of the Funding/Social Media Coordinator Includes:
The Airdrie Rotary Festival of Performing Arts (ARFPA) is an annual event in Airdrie Alberta put on by the Airdrie Performing Arts Society (APAS), celebrating talent in music, speech arts, and other performing disciplines. The Funding Coordinator is responsible for sourcing grants, sponsorships, scholarship donations, and other fundraising opportunities to ensure the annual 10-day festival has the financial means to operate successfully. The Funding Coordinator reports directly to the Board of Directors. Coordinating with the Festival Director and the Festival Coordinator, the Funding Coordinator will handle all of the administrative tasks and duties needed to source funding and fulfill obligations to those businesses, organizations, and individuals who contribute financially to the festival. The Funding coordinator must be adaptable and capable of managing multiple administrative tasks, which may change periodically. The duties include the following and any other functions that may arise over time:
- Oversee the organization and planning of grant applications and sponsorship package details, including but not limited to sourcing new funding and grant reporting after each festival has concluded.
- Contact past, present, and potential sponsors and donors to request funding and “gifts in kind”.
- When required, act as the spokesperson for the Board when meeting with sponsors and donors (i.e. at sponsors’ board meetings and cheque presentations).
- Coordinate the provision of 3-4 volunteer board members for the Alberta Music Education Foundation’s casino every 2-3 years to support their grant application process.
- Complete administrative tasks required to fulfill promotional materials and obligations to sponsors and donors as detailed in the sponsorship package.
- Create, arrange printing/display, distribute, and schedule social media posts for marketing materials (i.e. posters, Facebook posts).
- Complete administrative tasks required for grant reporting.
- Organize and execute 50/50 raffle draw.
- Organize and execute “Stems for Stars” and other fundraisers.
- Any other duties and responsibilities as deemed necessary and assigned to the Funding Coordinator by the Board of Directors.
Qualifications:
The following qualifications will be valuable to the applicant:
- Experience in Fundraising and Grant Writing: Familiarity with grant applications, sponsorships, or fundraising activities, particularly within the arts or non-profit sectors, is an asset.
- Knowledge of Funding Sources: Awareness of or willingness to learn about grant sources and sponsorship opportunities in Alberta, particularly within the arts and education sectors.
- Relationship-Building Skills: Ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with sponsors, donors, and community partners.
- Project Management: Strong organizational skills, with the ability to oversee multiple projects, manage timelines, and follow through on commitments.
- Administrative Competency: Experience handling administrative tasks such as coordinating materials, drafting reports, and managing records would be advantageous.
- Marketing and Communication: Skills in creating and organizing promotional materials, including social media content, to enhance visibility for sponsors and donors.
- Event Coordination: Some experience in coordinating fundraising events or similar activities, including tasks like scheduling volunteers and managing logistics.
Training: The successful applicant will receive training and support from the outgoing funding coordinators.

Honourarium: $4,000 per year
Expected hours: 5-10 during the two weeks before and during the festival, and 0 – 5 per week during the rest of the year.
