Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and certified nurse to teach our Personal Support Worker program. The ideal candidate will possess a background in teaching and demonstrate a commitment to fostering an engaging and inclusive learning environment. This role involves facilitating content, mentoring students, and utilizing innovative learning approaches to enhance the educational experience. The role requires in person presence at our Ottawa campus, and the schedule will be Mon-Fri, from 8:30-12:30.
Duties
- Deliver a curriculum through methods that meets educational standards and student needs.
- Utilize Learning Management Systems (LMS) such as Moodle for course delivery and assessment.
- Conduct research to stay current in the field and integrate findings into course materials.
- Employ various instructional design techniques to create effective lesson plans.
- Manage classroom dynamics effectively to promote a positive learning atmosphere.
- Provide academic advising and mentoring to students, guiding them in their educational journeys.
- Facilitate adult education programs, adapting teaching methods to suit diverse learning styles.
- Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development and departmental initiatives.
- Assess student performance through assignments, exams, and feedback mechanisms.
Requirements
- Post secondary degree in nursing
- Active RPN certification
- Minimum 2 years of vocational experience in the filed
- Proven experience in training/ teaching adults in higher education settings or on a work site.
- Familiarity with learning technologies, particularly Moodle or similar platforms.
- Excellent classroom management abilities with a focus on student engagement.
- Experience working with diverse student populations and understanding their unique needs.
- Strong mentoring skills, with a passion for supporting student success.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, for clear instruction and feedback.
- A commitment to continuous professional development in education practices.
