The Great Bear project is a development-stage asset located in the renowned and prolific Red Lake mining district, and represents one of the most exciting recent gold discoveries globally. The project has excellent potential to become a top-tier deposit that could support a large, long-life mine complex. Kinross’ comprehensive exploration and development program will aim to support the vision of a quality, high-grade, open-pit mine and a longer-term, sizeable underground mine.
You will be responsible for monitoring activities in the environmental department to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and site standards at the Kinross Great Bear site.
- Collect and monitor environmental data (including but not limited to surface water, ground water, air & noise, light, and acid rock drainage).
- Organize and coordinate logistics for field programs in collaboration with external consultants.
- Supervise/assist subcontractors during field work including excavation, sampling, borehole drilling, etc.
- Organize and carry out sampling schedules for all environmental programs including external laboratory audits.
- Review and maintain accurate data and test results in accordance with site standards and Government sampling and monitoring criteria.

Post-secondary education in a related field and a minimum of 2-3 years technical experience in the environmental field, and/or in the mining industry.
- Posess Valid Driver's license.
- Familiar with Occupational Health & Safety Act, and Environmental Legislation.
- Ability to work outside and in inclement weather; proficient in the use of watercraft, snowmachine and UTV.
- Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and extended hours in order to facilitate field baseline programs
