Position Overview
As the Employment Program Coordinator, you will lead and enhance our employment services, ensuring that newcomers receive comprehensive support in their journey toward meaningful employment. This role encompasses program development, partnership cultivation, event coordination, and direct client assistance.
Key Responsibilities
Program Leadership & Development
- Design, implement, and evaluate employment programs tailored to the needs of newcomers.
- Expand initiatives specifically supporting newcomer women and underrepresented groups, with a focus on workplace cultural integration, skills training, and networking opportunities.
Partnership & Stakeholder Engagement
- Cultivate and maintain partnerships with external organizations, including businesses, community groups, educational institutions, and government agencies, to enhance knowledge of local labour market needs, essential employment-related skills, and training opportunities to increase employability
- Collaborate with WorkBC and other employment service providers to leverage resources and ensure comprehensive client support.
Event & Workshop Coordination
- Plan, coordinate, and facilitate employment-related events, workshops, job networking events, and training sessions to support clients' job search and career development.
Client Support
- Provide individualized support to clients, including resume writing assistance, job search strategies, interview preparation, and referrals to relevant resources.
- Oversee and facilitate resume drop-in sessions, ensuring clients receive timely and effective assistance.
Data Management & Reporting
- Perform accurate data entry in the client management system, maintaining up-to-date records of client interactions, program participation, and outcomes.
- Monitor and analyze program data to track effectiveness and support funding requirements.
Grant Writing & Funding
- Identify grant opportunities to advance employment programs.
- Prepare proposals and reports to secure and maintain funding.
What You Bring
- Bachelor's degree in social work, human resources, community development, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in employment services, career counseling, or a related field.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working effectively with diverse clients and stakeholders.
- Knowledge of employment programs, resources, and best practices.
- Experience working with newcomer populations, particularly women, is an asset.
- Familiarity with WorkBC and other employment program agencies is desirable.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data management tools.
- Fluency in additional languages, especially those spoken by newcomer communities, is an asset.
Additional Requirements
- Availability to occasionally work evenings or weekends for events.
- Possession of a valid Canadian driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle.
- Consent to a Criminal Record Check (paid by KIS).
