Anishnabeg Outreach is an incorporated non-profit organization guided by a volunteer Board of Directors. We work primarily with the non-profit sector and are guided by a clear mission and set of values. We provide Aboriginal people with access to culturally appropriate services and strive to support individuals with direction and assistance to overcome barriers. We encourage individual exploration of avenues that will lead to self-sufficiency and success.

Mission Statement

To help First Nations, Metis and Inuit by creating a sustainable and comprehensive suite of centralized wrap around services for urban FNMI and to establish Anishnabeg Outreach as an innovative hub/heart of best practices for economic development, training and employment on reserves.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

to be considered for this job you must:

  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment.
  • Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES REQUIRED

  • Comfortable working with a diverse group of community members
  • Able to work independently
  • Program coordination and leadership skills an asset
  • Experience working volunteers an asset
  • Event Planning experience an asset
  • Familiar with and committed to the Mission, Vision and Values of Anishnabeg Outreach
  • Working knowledge of office management systems and procedures
  • Working knowledge of office equipment, like printers and fax machines
  • Proficiency in MS Office (MS Excel and MS PowerPoint, in particular)
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize work
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

PRINCIPAL JOB DUTIES

  • Greet visitors in person or virtually via phone or online
  • Complete Intake with individuals accessing the centre – referral to appropriate service provider at Anishnabeg Outreach Inc. or relevant community partner
  • Assist clients with their immediate needs such as locating phone numbers, faxing, preparing resumes, as required
  • Assist clients with accessing employment resources on the internet and other employment related computer functions
  • Answer telephones, ensure messages are taken accurately and delivered to the appropriate staff
  • Update (handout) for Internet sites and Job Search Tools
  • Maintain / update all resource boards to ensure material is valid and up to date
  • Maintain resource library, which will include researching additional resources, and updating material
  • Organize and maintain office inventory cabinets and inventory storage areas
  • Prepare and organize files as required
  • Assist with visual materials for research reports and presentations
  • Assist staff in the design, execution, and evaluation of projects
  • Other Duties as assigned
