About the Role:
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented part-time weekend Hospitality Worker to ensure the smooth and safe operation of our Emergency Shelter on Saturdays and Sundays. You will play a vital role in maintaining a clean, welcoming, and well-supplied environment for our clients during weekend hours. Your responsibilities will include housekeeping, meal preparation, inventory assistance, and ensuring adherence to health and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform comprehensive cleaning and sanitization of all shelter areas.
- Assist with meal preparation and ensure food is available for clients.
- Help maintain organized donation areas and ensure proper disposal of unusable items.
- Conduct room checks and report any maintenance or safety concerns.
- Adhere to all Rowan House Society policies and procedures, including client confidentiality and safety protocols.
- Collaborate effectively with weekday staff and provide seamless handover.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience (housekeeping experience preferred).
- Good understanding of cleaning and sanitizing practices.
- Strong attention to detail and time management skills.
- Basic understanding of health and safety procedures.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and work independently.
- Valid driver’s license with a clear abstract and reliable transportation is an asset.
Certificates Required (Conditions of Employment):
- Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check
- Child Intervention Check
- Current CPR and First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain)
Working Conditions:
- Part-time, weekends (Saturdays and Sundays).
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and be mobile for extended periods.
