Overview
The Economic Development Manager will lead the WPCIB’s economic development activities through the identification and development of economically viable business opportunities and strategic partnerships that will establish long-term financial growth and sustainability.
Duties
- Develops, implements and monitors strategic planning around existing and future needs, providing professional expertise, direction, advice, and recommendations;
- Develops annual budgets with accompanying workplans to ensure proper planning and budgeting of current and future needs, ensuring regular review, monitoring, and adjustments as required;
- Provides operational oversight and management of all economic development activities from concept to execution;
- Researches and initiates funding proposals to support the development of the department and ensures timely completion of reporting requirements;
- Monitors the financial and operational performance of all economic development activities, providing recommendations for long-term sustainability;
- Identifies, establishes and maintains strategic relationships with all relevant stakeholders including industry partners, government agencies and investors.
- Develops relevant operational policies and procedures to ensure adequate systems and processes are in place to advance the department;
- Provides insight and recommendations to Chief and Council to assist in the decision-making process;
- Prepares written documents including business proposals, project updates, reports, and evaluations;
- Provides human resource management to staff through leadership, coaching and mentoring.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree (Business, Finance, Economic, or related field) or equivalent combination of education and experience;
- Minimum five (5) years of experience working within a similar role at a senior level;
- Criminal record check;
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License.
Wage will be dependent on experience
