S.H.A.R.E. Thrift Store (Support. Hope. Access. Resilience. Employment.) is a dynamic new social enterprise operated by Obair Economic Society, designed to provide inclusive employment, environmental sustainability, and community engagement – all under one roof.
We are seeking a strategic and community-minded Store Manager to lead the planning, launch, and day-to-day operations of the S.H.A.R.E. Thrift Store in Dawson Creek. This is an exciting opportunity to help build a social enterprise from the ground up and drive real impact in your community.
The Store Manager will be responsible for retail operations, team leadership, volunteer engagement, community outreach, business planning, and mission alignment. This role reports directly to the Executive Director of Obair Economic Society.
Key Responsibilities
Pre-Launch Business Development (First 3 Months)
Before the store opens to the public, the Store Manager will lead a focused planning and development phase.
During this phase, the Store Manager will be responsible for:
o Developing and refining the full business plan, including:
- Market analysis, risk assessment, and financial forecasting
o Leading the design of store operations, staffing models, inventory intake processes, and volunteer recruitment strategies.
o Building the marketing and branding launch plan:
- Engaging with local partners, suppliers, and community organizations to build visibility and buy-in
- Collaborating with the Executive Director to prepare documentation for final board approval before the store’s launch
Retail Operations
- Oversee donations, merchandising, inventory, and customer service
- Foster an inclusive, welcoming, and mission-aligned store environment
- Monitor sales performance and environmental impact metrics
- Conduct ongoing operational risk analysis and process improvement
Financial Oversight
- Track sales and support diverse revenue streams (grants, workshops, donations)
- Collaborate on budget planning, reporting, and financial compliance
Employment & Mentorship Program
- Manage cohort-based employment training for participants facing barriers
- Coordinate staff and peer mentorship systems with weekly progress tracking
- Ensure a trauma-informed, supportive training environment
Volunteer Engagement
- Recruit, train, and support volunteers of all backgrounds
- Foster a culture of inclusion, contribution, and recognition
Community & Marketing Engagement
- Represent the store in community events, partnerships, and outreach
- Lead storytelling and marketing strategies through digital and local channels
- Report on impact metrics related to employment, sustainability, and community benefit
Skills & Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of leadership experience in retail, nonprofit, social enterprise, or workforce development
- Experience in business planning (market analysis, risk management, financial forecasting)
- Proven ability to manage people and programs with empathy, accountability, and strong organizational skills.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, interpersonal)
- Commitment to inclusive employment, equity, and trauma-informed practices
- Experience using POS systems, basic accounting software, and Microsoft Office or Google Workspace.
Assets:
- Background in workforce development, inclusive employment, or community development.
- Knowledge of waste reduction, reuse, and sustainability in retail settings.
- Familiarity with grant writing or nonprofit fundraising.
- Fluency in a second language or experience working in multicultural environments.

Pay: $30.00-$35.00 per hour
Expected hours: 35 – 40 per week
