DEIA Lead, Paving the Way for Immigrant and Racialized Women
SUMMARY: ‘Paving the Way for Immigrant and Racialized Women’ project shall aim to advance women’s economic security and prosperity. It will address barriers to immigrant and racialized women in their entry, retention, and success in the workplace. The project will engage and work with organizations in Ontario to address inequities through the application of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Accessibility (DEIA) practices and principles. This project will also conduct ongoing consultations with immigrant and racialized women for their input while providing tailored information sessions and briefings to employers in Ontario.
The Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (DEIA) Lead will be responsible for the successful facilitation of DEIA workshops and training sessions for employers and organizations across Ontario. The DEIA Lead is responsible for facilitating training sessions and providing support and guidance to employers implementing DEIA practices and principles to ensure that all objectives, milestones and expected outcomes are achieved in accordance with Achev and project funder standards.
Development and delivery of tailored DEIA sessions is a key component of this role.
Note: This is a 16 hours per month commitment, with the probability of increase in the hours as dictated by project needs.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead and facilitate DEIA workshops and training sessions for employers and organizations across Ontario.
- Customize and adapt DEIA training materials to meet the specific needs of diverse audiences.
- Provide ongoing support and guidance to employers implementing DEIA practices and principles.
- Assist in the organization and execution of targeted employer interventions using the DEIA Toolkit and assessment framework.
- Facilitate discussions and focus groups to identify barriers and opportunities for improving workplace equity and inclusion.
- Collaborate with the project team to incorporate community feedback into training and intervention strategies.
- Contribute to the development of tailored information sessions and briefings for employers.
- Support the project team in the creation of program materials and resources.
- Participate in the ongoing review and evaluation of training sessions and interventions.
- Collect and analyze feedback from trained participant organizations to assess the effectiveness of DEIA initiatives.
- Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, human resources, education, or a related field. Relevant certifications in DEIA are an asset.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in DEIA training, facilitation, or a related role.
- Experience working with immigrant and racialized communities is highly desirable.
- Strong facilitation and presentation skills, with the ability to engage and inspire diverse audiences.
- In-depth knowledge of DEIA practices and principles.
- Ability to customize training materials to address specific organizational needs.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Proficiency in using virtual training platforms and technology.
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with clients, team members, employers, and community partners.
- Demonstrated ability to achieve high-performance goals and meet deadlines in a fast- paced environment
- Ability to work a flexible schedule depending on program demands; evenings, weekends, or split shifts as necessary.
- Ability to travel for internal and external stakeholder meetings and conferences.
